MDAcne Pills Review- What are the Side Effects? Updated 2025

There are two MDacne supplements for breakouts, but which one has the best reviews and which one has the most side effects?

MDacne actually sells two different products called “Customized Skin Clearing Supplements.”

It can be a little confusing figuring out which one might be right for you, so we broke it all down by what’s in each one, how they’re different, and what real customers are saying about their results (and side effects).

What's the Difference Between the Two Acne Pills?

One of the MD acne supplements is made with vitamins and minerals, while the other contains DIM and extracts from cruciferous vegetables.

If you have low estrogen levels, the version with DIM might not be the best choice for you—it can sometimes cause unwanted side effects in those cases.

Who's It For?

The capsules can be taken by men, women, and teens of all skin types who want to reduce breakouts, oily skin, and redness.

While the DIM formula is marketed more toward women’s health, DIM is also commonly used by men to help with estrogen-related side effects like gynecomastia (gyno).

Despite the name, these MDacne supplements aren’t truly “customized” — they can be purchased individually without a subscription.

Are the Reviews Mostly Good or Bad?

You can find reviews on Amazon and their website, but it’s a bit tricky to sort through.

A lot of the reviews on the DIM supplement page mix in feedback about other products like the acne cleanser, so you have to dig through multiple pages to find actual DIM reviews—and even then, it’s hard to tell which are for DIM or the vitamin and mineral pills.

Most people say they get fewer breakouts and like the results, but a few say it didn’t work for them.

One common complaint? The pills smell pretty bad, which might be a turnoff for some.

There aren’t many reviews on Reddit, and no before-and-after photos that we could find. Acnetame has Reddit reviews if you're interested.

Can you Get Side Effects?

If you already have low estrogen, taking DIM supplements might cause side effects like headaches or joint pain.

DIM can also change your urine color—that’s normal and harmless, and it usually goes away with time.

The vitamin and mineral pill might cause dry skin, but drinking more water and healthy fats can help with that.

MDAcne Ingredients

What's in the DIM supplement?

This supplement contains:

  • 250mg Diindolylmethane (DIM)
  • 25mg Broccoli Extract
  • 25mg Alfalfa Leaf
  • 25mg Spinach Leaf
  • 25mg Kale Leaf
  • 25mg Bioperine

DIM is the main ingredient here—it helps reduce excess estrogen, which can cause hormonal issues like breakouts and oily skin.

The amount of DIM per serving looks solid and could work well for some people. The other ingredients are in smaller doses, so they probably don’t have a big effect.

Bioperine doesn’t reduce estrogen; it’s added to improve absorption of vitamins, but since there are no vitamins in this formula, it likely doesn’t do much here.

What's in the vitamin supplement?

This vitamin and mineral supplement includes:

  • Vitamin A (750 mcg)
  • Thiamin (7.5 mg)
  • Riboflavin (2 mg)
  • Niacin (25 mg)
  • Vitamin B6 (0.5 mg)
  • Folate (75 mcg)
  • Vitamin B12 (6 mcg)
  • Biotin (25 mcg)
  • Pantothenic Acid (250 mg)
  • Zinc (6 mg)
  • Calcium (30 mg)
  • Selenium (50 mcg)
  • Chromium (15 mcg)
  • Milk Thistle (40 mg)
  • CoEnzyme Q10 (10 mg)

This one is promoted for reducing skin inflammation, redness, and scars from breakouts, but works best when paired with a topical treatment.

Honestly, it feels more like a multivitamin that supports overall skin health, rather than something that targets pimples specifically.

Most of the ingredients are in pretty low doses, so their impact might be limited.

For example, Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) helps control sebum and breakouts, but usually at much higher doses than the 250 mg here.

Acne Tame has 750 mg and that's why it's effective at controlling oily skin and breakouts.

We think the DIM supplement is better for clearing skin since it addresses hormonal imbalances, which often show up as skin issues. Our DIM supplement recommendation is Estrohalt.

Dosage and Serving Size

Both bottles have 30 vegan capsules, and the serving size is one capsule.

We don’t think you’ll see big results from just one vitamin pill capsule—some people might need to take more than one at a time to notice a difference. That means the bottle would last less than 30 days and could get pricey since it costs $29.99.

The DIM supplement also costs $29.99, but in our opinion, it’s a better value since most people only need one capsule per serving.

Where Can You Buy It?

You can buy MDacne on Amazon or their official website, where you can start and cancel a subscription anytime.

The Acne Treatment Subscription ships to the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Norway, South Korea, Japan, Ireland, and Singapore.

The Supplements Subscription is only available in the US and UK right now.

Unfortunately, neither ships to the UAE.

They recommend subscriptions because it takes time for the products to work, so you won’t run out or miss a dose. Plus, subscribers get perks like the MDacne quiz and a personal login.

MDacne doesn’t have phone support, but you can reach customer service by email or on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Do They Sell Other Products?

Besides the acne supplements, MDacne also sells a dark spot remover, a COVID acne mask to help reduce breakouts, an acne cleanser, and a face mask that might work well for some people.

Final Thoughts: Does the MDacne Treatment Actually Work?

We think MDacne’s supplements could help some people and might be worth a try—but before you decide, take a look at the pros and cons of each one.

Pros

  • Vegan, non-GMO, and paraben-free.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • May help with mild acne.

Cons

  • The vitamin supplement for acne might not be very effective
  • The DIM formula isn’t suitable for everyone.
  • Both products are a bit pricey for just a 30-day supply
  • There aren’t many reviews that clearly explain how well they actually work.

Is MDacne legit? In our opinion, the supplement with DIM may be more effective for hormonal acne, but it also comes with a higher chance of side effects. The vitamin and mineral supplement might be more helpful when combined with a topical treatment applied directly to the skin.

For better results, we recommend Estrohalt and Acne Tame as solid options for hormonal acne support.
